5-habits-to-kick-start-a-new-month

September is right around the corner! It is hard to believe that summer has come and gone. With the season behind us, it is time to look ahead to a new month. Now is the perfect time to put in motion habits that will set you up for success. Here are five ways to kick-start September at work:

1. Create New Goals

A new month is a fresh start. It is great to have lofty goals from the beginning of the year, but micro-goals can keep us on track. Re-evaluating what you need to work on allows you to step back from day-to-day tasks and assess what is important. Write down five goals for the next month and keep them within sight to serve as reminders for how you can better yourself at work.

2. Tackle Chores

Kick off the month with a clean slate. Doing work chores at the beginning of the month takes them off of your plate and enables you to focus for the remaining weeks. File invoices, submit expense reports, clean out your inbox, refresh your workspace, and water the plants. Completing these tasks is essential for a productive month ahead. On the first of the month, put two hours on your calendar to block off for work chores. You’ll thank us later!

3. Make a Plan

To the best of your abilities, map out the month ahead. Block off time on the calendar, outline important deliverables, and input personal events so that work does not get in the way. A planned month is a month where you can have a work/life balance and be productive.

4. Practice Self-Care

With all the focus on work, do not forget to take some time for yourself. Self-care is just as important as nailing a presentation or meeting. If we do not take care of ourselves, how can we take care of our work? Self-care is more than just a spa day. It is little moments of peace and relaxation that make us feel rejuvenated.
