‘Tis the season for gatherings! Whether you celebrate at home or not, we could all use some good ole fun this time of year at work. Use this time of year as an excuse to gather your colleagues, reflect on a good year, and get excited for all that is to come. Take a cookie, drink, and a deep breath because you deserve it. Here are five work celebrations for the holidays that won't disappoint!

1. Give Gifts

Holiday gifts are top of mind this time of year. Celebrate by doing a Secret Santa or White Elephant gift exchange with coworkers! It is low-cost, takes the pressure off of giving gifts to everyone, and creates a fun activity for the whole team to enjoy.

2. Party On

It isn’t the holidays without a party! Most shared workspaces hold parties for clients, which is a great way to mix and mingle. But more parties never hurt anybody, so throw together a last-minute gathering! It can be as simple as a potluck, pizza party, or cookie swap. Try out a new grouping, such as all the people who work solo in your space, all the lawyers, non-profits, etc. You never know whom you may meet over some eggnog!

3. Head Out and Explore

Ditch the office and check out one of the countless seasonal activities and events in the DMV area with your team! Head to Zoo Lights after work, spend happy hour at the Christmas pop-up bar, ice skate in Georgetown, attend a festive cooking class, or stroll one of the holiday markets. There are so many options in the city, all of which are easily accessible by Metro from any AdvantEdge location.

4. Go Virtual

With remote and hybrid teams, it can be hard to re-create the magical atmosphere of a holiday party. But who said you can't bring the party to them? Send everyone an activity to do together online, such as a cookie decorating or mixology kit. Add in some company swag, like a mug or sweatshirt, wrap it all up in festive packaging, and you will have a box of cheer guaranteed to brighten any recipient's day!

5. Take Time for Yourself

Holiday parties and gift exchanges and happy hours… oh my! The season is filled with fun events, but saying “no” is just as important as saying “yes.” Make sure you do not over-extend yourself by axing events that you’re not looking forward to or that do not serve a larger purpose. While socializing is great, in December it’s imperative to also indulge in some self-care.

How are you celebrating with your team this season? If you are a last-minute planner, let AdvantEdge Workspaces help you out! Check out how you can host your next party in a full-service shared workspace here. Happy Holidays!
