August Is National Wellness Month: Here's How to Celebrate

August is National Wellness Month, and as we go on five months of work from home or altered work schedules, practicing wellness is essential. Feeling well-rested, satisfied, and full of energy is key to having a productive workday. Plus, being in control of our health and wellness can be reassuring during a time when so many things are out of our hands. Here are three ways you can celebrate National Wellness Month by making your health a priority at work!

1. Work in a Safe Space, Worry-Free

Most of us are experiencing anxiety, fear, sadness, and other varying emotions related to the global pandemic. With all the uncertainty in the world, the last thing you need to worry about is if your office is clean. At AdvantEdge Workspaces, we are going the extra mile to ensure you feel healthy and safe in our workspaces, which includes reducing touch points and implementing new cleaning measures. It is our goal that everyone can return to work safely, should they want to, and feel comfortable and at home in their shared workspace environment.

2. Fuel Yourself

Set yourself up for success by making sure your body is getting everything that it needs. Focus on having nutritious meals and keep snacks on hand- being hangry (hungry + angry) will not get you anywhere! If you struggle to cook during the week, try meal prepping. There are great services like Work Week Lunch that provide easy recipes that will last the whole week.

You’ll also want to get a good night’s sleep. Many of us have shorter commutes right now, making it easier to snag those extra zzz’s. You can also use the extra time in your day to sneak in mid-day workouts. If you work from home, put on athletic clothes first thing in the morning so that you are ready to go whenever. For those back in the office, consider a low impact workout that can be done beside a desk, such as pilates.

3. Take Time Off

Utilize your paid time off and other sick days to relax and recharge. A simple staycation can have the same effect as an exotic getaway. Consider taking the time to catch up with friends, have a “life admin” day (taking care of errands, appointments, etc.), or simply do nothing. Plus, in a shared workspace you’ll be able to take time off guilt-free, without worrying about what is going on at the office.

Wellness at work is more important than ever. At AdvantEdge Workspaces, we’ve always put a strong focus on helping our employees do their best work while feeling good. This National Wellness Month, you can celebrate by taking some time for yourself, getting back to the basics (such as a full night’s sleep), and working in a space where your health and safety are of the utmost importance. Contact us today to see how you can embrace wellness at work with AdvantEdge Workspaces.
