Getting Ready for Summer at Work

getting-ready-summer-workTemperatures are creeping into the 80s, the days are getting longer, and the sandals are out: there is no denying that summer is (technically almost) here. Summer can be the best season, but between all the BBQs, vacation, and time in the sun, the season can have its own challenges. Before we truly get immersed in the summertime spirit, here are four ways you can ensure you have a fun, productive, and stress-free season.

1. Set Goals and Realistic Expectations

  • Clarify “summer Friday” rules to ensure everyone is on the same page about if or when they can leave early.
  • Ask for any PTO you need ASAP (Especially if it is around a holiday weekend)- then create a comprehensive out of office plan to ensure you can truly unplug.
  • Write down what you want out of the season. The goals can range from spending more time outside to taking a vacation to being able to go off the grid on the beach during the weekend. This will help you stay on task and be proactive about planning activities or doing else “out of office”.

2. Stay Focused

Between the warm weather, exciting activities, and looming vacation time, focus can be at an all-time low in summer. Click here for our top four tips for staying motivated in the office this season!

3. Add the Right Help

Feeling swamped at work? Does your to-do list seem never-ending? There is no better time than the present to add some additional support to your team! From recent grads looking for full-time positions to summer interns who want a two-day a week gig, the options are endless. Read more here about how you can find and hire the right type of help.

4. Embrace the Outdoors

If your workspace has outdoor areas, now is the time to take advantage! Use a rooftop space or balcony to enjoy lunch, work on a project, or have a meeting.

No rooftop? No problem! Head to a local park, take a call while walking around the block, or pause to enjoy you mid-afternoon coffee run outside.

It’s already feeling like the middle of summer in D.C., and at AdvantEdge Workspaces we could not be more excited for the season! While our clients take some much-needed R&R on the beach, we take care of their mail and direct calls. Not heading to the beach? There is so much to enjoy right in the office, such as rooftop lounge spaces, proximity to parks and outdoor dining, and community events that celebrate the season.

Come make this summer the best one yet at AdvantEdge Workspaces!
