It’s hard to believe that 2022 is right around the corner. The new year brings new aspirations in our personal and professional lives. Small businesses have their own unique challenges and joys, and with that comes the need for different goals. Whether you are an employee or an owner, here are four resolutions you can make for your small business this year.

1. Get Social

Social media is no longer a “nice to have” element in a business, it is essential. An active presence on these platforms can make or break a business. Create cohesive branding with a color palette, font, and logos. Find an aesthetic by trying out different types of content and see what followers find the most engaging. Don’t know where to start? Check out our guides for using platforms to your advantage: click here for Instagram and here for Facebook.

2. Outsource

BUILD A SUPPORT SYSTEM!

New Year’s resolutions can often feel like one more thing on the to-do list. This year, take something off of your plate by outsourcing part of your business. With freelancer sites like Fiverr, you can find someone to help with any task, from web design to social media management. You can also take on an intern for hourly help with projects. Another way to outsource is by utilizing a shared workspace. Tap client services coordinators to assist with call answering, reception services, and more.

3. Start a Blog

A blog is a great marketing tool for your business and a fun outlet to showcase your industry knowledge. Blog posts help attract people to your business via social media and web searches. You can write about trends, tips and tricks, business updates, and services.

4. Prioritize Work/Life Balance

The struggle between working hard and feeling fulfilled in your personal life is everlasting. But with some planning and the right support, it is possible to achieve. Here are our tips for maintaining a positive work/life balance:

  • Use a shared workspace where you do not need to worry about facilities or maintaining your space
  • Streamline your workday by taking advantage of nearby amenities, such as an in-building gym
  • Turn off work notifications after hours, or filter messages so that only the most important ones will alert you
  • Outsource other tasks to freelancers, interns, and workspace support staff
