D.C.'s Premier Workspace Provider Throughout the Years


anniversary-then-and-nowIt’s 1988. The Washington Redskins are Super Bowl champions, Michael Jackson was looking at the “Man in the Mirror,” but most importantly, AdvantEdge Workspaces was founded. Thirty years ago, Founder and CEO Prakash Gavri saw a gap in the workspace industry. He noticed business owners were bogged down with office maintenance and basic but time-consuming administrative tasks.

He started AdvantEdge as a way to give business owners the freedom to focus on their work amidst dynamic workspaces with top-notch personalized service and support. For the past three decades, we have strived to live up to our founding goal every day. We’ve grown along the way, so come see how AdvantEdge has evolved from the era of switchboard telephones to a company that’s on the cutting edge of industry technology!

AdvantEdge began as Washington Executive Services, Inc, a one-office suite in the heart of the West End. It did not take long for the company to take off and in 1990, Gavri opened a second space in the Chevy Chase Pavilion building. The second location became Chevy Chase Executive Services, Inc. The mission of both locations resonated with business owners- to achieve a professional space with customizable services that would enable their companies to grow.

It was not until 2004 that the AdvantEdge brand that we know and love was created. The name “AdvantEdge Business Centers” would successfully unite the two locations. Soon after in 2012, the L street location joined the family, rounding out the variety of space options for clients.

AdvantEdge front desks: then versus now!

In Spring 2016, AdvantEdge hit a major milestone in its history. While the West End location’s tenure came to an end, over 23,000 sq ft. of additional space was added to the L street location. The move meant that AdvantEdge was still able to provide two prestigious location options! While L Street provides easy access to Downtown and Northern Virginia, Chevy Chase sits right on the border of NW D.C. and the Maryland suburbs.

Another big change came this past year in 2017 when we rebranded as AdvantEdge Workspaces and debuted a new logo. This name change reflects the diversity of workspace and business support options that we offer. It also shows our commitment to being a leader in the industry as a workspace that supports all types of companies by creating a sense of community while retaining our professional edge.

AdvantEdge has grown into more than a place to work: it is a community where people from all different fields can come together and thrive. We regularly hold professional and social events such as happy hours, EdgeTalks and our annual holiday party where our clients can mingle- you may even see Prakash playing bartender!
